How camrand works

camrand pairs you with a random person for a live video chat — no account, no waiting room, no downloads. Here's what happens behind the scenes.

Random matching in one click

When you press Start, you join a matching queue and get paired with another person who is online at that moment. Every match is random. If it's not a good fit, press Skip and you're instantly back in the queue for someone new.

Your video goes peer-to-peer

camrand is built on WebRTC, the same technology behind major video call apps. Once you're matched, video and audio are sent directly between browsers whenever possible; when a direct connection isn't possible, an encrypted relay passes them along. Either way, camrand does not record or store your streams.

Before you're matched, your camera preview stays entirely on your device. Nothing is sent anywhere until a match begins.

No account, no profile required

You never need to register, hand over an email address, or install an app. You can optionally set a display name and a few details to show your chat partners — or skip all of it and stay anonymous.

A few tips for better chats

Use a well-lit room and allow camera and microphone access when your browser asks. camrand works in desktop and mobile browsers alike. Be respectful — users who break the rules can be reported and banned.
